Save email attachments locally
Unable to save attachments to local storage. I may want to save a PDF or document locally but not keep the email in my inbox (or fumble through my inbox to find it)

Copy, Cut and Paste
Work out the copy/cut/paste story. I want to paste addresses from meeting requests into Google Maps. I want to cut text and move it in email replies. So many other applications, but those are two big ones for me.

Be able to create meeting requests
There is no way to create a new meeting request emails on iPhone. I'd able to create a meeting request that would invite others via email like I can in Outlook.

Adobe Flash support
Please add support for Safari (for Mac) plug-ins, or at least work with Adobe to gain support for Adobe Flash.

Sending contacts via SMS
You should be able to send contacts to other phones via SMS (like every other phone in the world).

Turn by turn directions GPS
Add turn by turn directions into the GPS/Google maps client.
It would also be nice to have speed, updated ETA and audible directions.

The wider on screen keyboard is a great thing when entering text.

fast play for podcasts
on the ipod you can play back podcasts at a faster speed. can this be done on the iPhone?

phone dial links
when i get a phone number in an email or sms, it should be presented as a dial link, to fast dial the phone number.

Unified Inbox
I currently have four email accounts setup in my iPhone and flipping back and forth just to see which account has new messages is a real time waster. Mail.app on my mac has a unified inbox, I would love to have the same ability on my iPhone.

Bluetooth Support for Keyboards
Data entry is much faster on a full size keyboard. Emails, SMS, and general productivity would be increased with this option.

make the phone more durable - face shattered after one fall
The face of my iPhone shattered after just one drop from a few feet. Am I really the only person to have ever dropped my phone? When I took it to the Apple store to ask about it, the guy was amazed because he had never seen anything like that even though he drops his all the time. Laughing about it, he let me know that I would have to buy a brand new phone. Nice customer service. I'm still using my broken phone, hoping a shard of glass doesn't fall in my ear.

Limit contacts on phone list, to contacts with numbers
Click Phone to call someone you don't know there number. Click contacts. If you're contact list was synced with a service like gMail, it's possible you have a bunch of contacts without phone numbers, just email addresses.
When I'm in the filtered contact list, from the Phone application, please only show me contacts with phone numbers.
If the contact doesn't have a phone number, I can't call them :)

More Applications space
There's supposedly a 300MB limit on the root partition that prohibits the number of applications that can be installed on the iPhone. Please remove this limitation (if it isn't already removed in the 3G model??) and utilize the 16 GB space purchased for user data.

MSC (Flat file) mode support for songs
When connecting my iPhone to my computer, it comes up as a storage device where I can put files on it. But the only files that show up there that were alread on the iPhone are camera photos. I'd like to manage my MP3 files as flat files, without using iTunes.

Portable hardware dock with control buttons
I would like to see a portable hardware dock for the iPhone that allows the iPhone to be used like a PSP. Touch-based games that are made or the iPhone lack one really vital component: the "feel" part of touch. It's easy for thumbs to wander off the correct positions on the screen when playing a game, for example. It would also be nice if this dock had additional, expandable RAM, or a built-in DVD drive for DVD playback using the iPhone as a display.

I would like to be able to attach my iPhone to a computer and have the ability to copy files to and off the iPhone. Having the iPhone work like an USB drive would limit 1 more gadget that I need to carry in my pocket.

Add email attachment after message is composed
Currently, you have to tell the iPhone to send a file (such as a photo) as an attachment before you start composing the message. You should be able to add an attachment afterwards as well.

Option to disable SMS notifications
if you recieve very many text messages, the modal overlay can be very annoying.

Option to diable SMS notification while on a phone call
If you get 10 SMS text messages while on a phone call. you have to dismiss all 10 messages, BEFORE YOU CAN HANG UP!
This is very difficult to end a call.

Create some sort of back button
click a link in an SMS. This opens the safari browser, but then it's very difficult to get back to the SMS messages.
If you're reading a long thread of SMS messages, you have to go home, then SMS, then find the place you were. This is so many extra steps.
Maybe something in the title bar, or even a power button hack, that let's you "go back one application"
